A Bay Springs man was seriously injured in an ATV crash in the Hebron area just before 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, according to reports.
James Strong, 41, had what were described as “critical injuries” after being involved in a four-wheeler crash near the 800 block of Summerland Road at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and the Jones County Fire Council reported.
Volunteers from Calhoun, Pleasant Ridge and Hebron responded and CPR was being administered to Strong when Deputy Jarone Walker arrived on scene. Strong was treated and transported by EMServ Ambulance medics to South Central Regional Medical Center, where he reportedly “coded twice” but was listed in stable condition at the time the JCSD report was filed.
There were reports to dispatch and on the scene that a second person was involved and fled on foot. That person’s identity and condition were not known and it was not known which one may have been operating the ATV.
