Former boxing world champion Mikaela Mayer has explained the reasoning behind her decision to start an OnlyFans.
Mayer, who's back in action against Lucy Wildheart this weekend after original opponent Christina Linardatou pulled out having lost her WBO and IBF super featherweight titles to Alycia Baumgardner last October, joined a growing list of sporting stars on the subscription service in February.
She promised fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her life in and out of the ring and speaking to Daily Star Sport, the 32-year-old reflected on the thought process she went through. Mayer admitted: "Well, number one, it’s definitely the biggest sponsor I’ve ever had financially.

"I’m no dummy, I’m gonna obviously take that type of sponsorship deal because it was a deal, it was a sponsorship. I am wearing their logo on my sports bra."
But there was also an "exciting" motivating factor for her. She continued: "I also kinda got excited about it because I feel like it’s chance for me - I’ve always been authentic on social media.
"But over the years with like the more spotlight that I get, especially with a fight like Baumgardner where I’m also getting an equal amount of hate, it was kind of exciting to me to maybe start on a platform where people are really really there because they support me, they’re my fans.

"No one’s gonna go subscribe to my channel for $10 a month to talk s*** or call me a horse face. And if they do at least they’re paying me!
"They're gonna be there because they really like me and support me. It gave me a chance to really be my most authentic self, which I haven’t been able to be in a long time because everyone has something to say on social media about everything, can’t win."
Mayer went on to explain how the extra cameras in the gym give her an opportunity to capture content with her legendary coach Al Mitchell, 80, while they're still working together.
"So I feel really good about that and if you want to get to know me on a deeper more personal level, that’s where you can go," Mayer added.
"I'm still sort of navigating what works best and what I really want to show on there. But it’s been fun, definitely got a lot of good content on there so far."
Mayer will be fully focused on the task in hand come Saturday (April 15) night when she steps into the ring with Wildheart as the co-feature of Joe Joyce vs Zhilei Zhang at London's Copper Box Arena, live on BT Sport in the UK.
