Tangled was released by Disney in November 2010. Flynn Rider was portrayed by Zachary Levi, Mother Gothel by Donna Murphy, and Rapunzel by Mandy Moore. The Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale Rapunzel served as a loose inspiration for the film.

Alan Menken composed the music for the movie, and it received a nomination for Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards. The success of the film also served as the basis for the TV series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure and the short film Tangled Ever After.

Tangled received an 89 percent critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The general agreement among critics is that Tangled is a visually magnificent and wonderfully enjoyable addition to the studio’s iconic animation canon, while not being Disney’s best movie.

Rapunzel and Flynn Rider have the biggest age difference of any Disney couple

Rapunzel, who is unaware that she is the person the lanterns are released in her honour each year, is the primary character of Tangled and she wants to see them released on her 18th birthday.

Near the beginning of the movie, Rapunzel meets Flynn Rider, who volunteers to be her tour guide and take her to view the lanterns. Rapunzel is just 17 when they first cross paths, and she turns 18 in the course of the film. The two fall in love and get admiration from people all around the world for the way they supported one another in pursuing their aspirations and risked their own safety to be there for one another.

Although the movie doesn’t mention Flynn Rider’s age, animators have confirmed that the character is 26 years old. This makes the age gap between Rapunzel and Flynn Rider the biggest of any Disney couple at eight years.

Some fans are not keen on the age difference

Given that Rapunzel is barely an adolescent in Tangled, the age gap between Rapunzel and Flynn Rider would be scrutinised in today’s culture. Some followers have expressed their disliking of the couple online after finding out Flynn Rider’s true age.

It frightened me to learn how old they were apart. for individual reasons, but primarily due to Rapunzel’s inexperience and naivety. I would probably feel more at ease with it if she had been more like the early versions of the story, but the way she is, I’m a little uneasy. In addition, Flynn’s desire to Rapunzel is something I just don’t understand (but I can sense her appeal to him): why would such a worldly, jaded guy fall for a girl who has never left her house? a user of Tumblr wrote. “I have nothing against romances involving legal age disparities, but Flynn and Rapunzel’s truly skirts my comfort thresholds,” the author said.

With the exception of Elsa, who is 21 years old in Frozen, all of the Disney princesses are teenagers, unlike Rapunzel, who is a young girl. At 14 years old, Snow White is the youngest Disney princess, and Jasmine in Aladdin is just 15 years old.
