Young started, dazzling a rain-soaked crowd his latest No. 1 hit "In Case You Didn’t Know." The young singer educated the crowd about making it on the radio, explaining, "It’s not that radio chooses not to play certain songs, they just can’t, they have so many they need to play and the newer ones worth putting out there are a risk."
"But for the people who have listened to my songs on the radio and have not changed the station….Thank you!"
Daubed with glitter and sparkles, Ballerini hit the stage with "Love Me Like You Mean It." The 23-year-old admits her songwriting style has changed since her engagement to long-time boyfriend and Australian country singer Morgan Evans. That was reflected in the new, uplifting "Unapologetically," which was followed by hits “Peter Pan,” “Dibs” and an acoustic cover of the infectious Chainsmokers’ “Closer.”
Lady Antebellum started with a horn duel that bled into "Downtown," “Our Kind of Love” and a new song “This City” from the new album Heart Break. “Compass” and “We Owned The Night” were others the band played before Charles Kelley pointed out Hillary Scott’s Pat Benatar-like appearance and jammed to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot."
The trio ended their show to their grooving jive of "Bartender" and their biggest hit, "Need You Now." Look for them to bring all their hits to WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn. next month. All three artists will play the Aug. 3-5 festival.
Though glad to be back, Charles Kelley said there's always a chance that the band will take another break, but "Probably not for a long, long time,'' he said. "If we take a break, it'll be if Hillary decides to have another baby.'"
