Lionel Messi will wear golden boots in Qatar - and fans are convinced he will finally lead Argentina to World Cup gold.
The Paris Saint-Germain superstar will captain the South Americans in what will be his fifth, and most likely, final World Cup. After the former Barcelona ace led them to the final in 2014, Lionel Scaloni’s side appear to have everything they need to lift the big one in the Middle East.
They come into the contest with a 35-match unbeaten streak and the Copa America in their illustrious trophy cabinet. And football fanatics across the world believe Messi could finally walk in the steps of Argentine icon Diego Maradona.

Messi is certainly one of the most aesthetically pleasing stars to compete in the beautiful game. However, things could be even more beautiful as he will be sporting some wonderful golden boots throughout the tournament.
“This is why he is winning the World Cup,” one fan wrote on social media. “Aye, this little man really deserves the world,” another added.

“Astrology isn’t real but I can assure you Leo is going to win the World Cup” one other fan, who evidently feels the stars have aligned, tweeted. “Some of the best boots I’ve seen, ever. Fit for the biggest of occasions. Ahh I’m so ready,” another fan wrote on social media.
“It’s really looking like an Argentina year,” another fanatic professed on social media, believing Argentina will end 36 years of hurt. While football fans may be crowning Argentina as champions already, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was more hesitant to label his side as favourites.
"Whenever we talk about candidates, we always talk about the same teams," he said. "If I have to put some above others I think Brazil, France and England are a little bit above the rest.
"But the World Cup is so difficult and so complicated that anything can happen."
