Taylor Swift is getting ready to take her fans back in time. In an appearance on 'Good Morning America' on Monday (Nov. 3), the worldwide superstar announced that she will kick off her 1989 World Tour in 2015.
Swift's new album, '1989,' is her first official foray into pop, titled for the year she was born. The album reflects her pop influences from that period, and industry experts are predicting that it sold at least a million units in its opening week last week. Its lead single, 'Shake It Off,' is also a massive hit, and next year's tour is slated to be a huge event, playing arenas and stadiums in five countries. Swift will perform multiple dates in several markets, including two concerts in July at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy will serve as the opening act for the North American shows, and Shawn Mendes will join the lineup for the stadium dates.
TaylorSwift.com and American Express card members will have early access to tickets beginning Nov. 7. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Nov. 14. Concert dates for Australia and Asia will be announced at a later date.
